Sickness benefit is part of the diverse range of benefits offered by the National Social Security Institute (INSS). In short, the benefit is granted when the person is unable to perform their duties at work due to illness or accident. To qualify for assistance, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Have INSS insured status (social security contributions or in need);
  • Absence of work activities for at least 15 days.
  • Comply with the minimum grace period (after making at least 12 monthly contributions to the INSS).
