R$ 1,212 aid for children and adolescents, find out who is entitled

Families with children or young people with disabilities can receive monthly minimum wage assistance. Understand the requirements.

For those who don't know, there is a monthly income equal to the minimum wage for families with an elderly person over 65 or a person with a disability (PWD). We are talking about the Continuous Payment Benefit (BPC).

BPC is a benefit paid to people in a situation of social need who also fit into one of the profiles above. Many may know the benefit as Loas, as this name is nothing more than the acronym referring to the Organic Social Assistance Law that governs the benefit.

Aid for children and teenagers, how it works

In the case of elderly people, the BPC requires that the citizen be 65 years old or over, however in the case of people with disabilities there is no minimum age, and R$ 1,212 (current minimum wage) can be paid. aimed at children and young people.

Therefore, low-income parents who have children with some type of disability (physical, mental, intellectual and sensory) can use the BPC/Loas. Above all, because families in these circumstances often do not have the necessary conditions to bear the costs of illness and support at the same time.

It is worth noting that, although mediated by the INSS (National Social Security Institute), it is not necessary to have paid social security contributions to receive the benefit. In short, this is due to the supportive nature of the BPC.

What are the requirements?

To integrate benefits accounting, the family must meet the following criteria:

  • Firstly, the family must be registered with CadÚnico for social programs;
  • Prove the child or young person's disability by collecting medical documents (certificates, reports, exams, prescriptions, etc.). The documentation must be presented to the INSS Medical Expertise;
  • The family must have a monthly per capita income (per person) of up to ¼ of the minimum wage in 2022, which is R$ 303.

Those who are not registered with the Single Registry (CadÚnico) can register their family members in the system through a CRAS (Social Assistance Reference Center). For more details such as B. the documents required in the procedure, simply click here.

Finally, it is advisable to gather as many documents as possible, which are presented during the medical examination to increase the chances of admission. Documentation must be legible and properly updated.
