First, it should be noted that payments are not released on a regular basis or for each employee with a balance in the FGTS. Because the FGTS withdrawal is intended to help citizens in an emergency situation when the state of public calamity is triggered.

As the name suggests, the benefit is for workers who live in locations that have declared a state of calamity. The withdrawal will then be made from an account linked to the Liquidation Fund (FGTS) up to a maximum amount of R$ 6,220.

To make the withdrawal, the citizen must meet the following conditions:

• Have a positive balance in an account linked to the FGTS;
• not withdrawing for the same reason in the past 12 months;
