R$4.7 thousand nursing salary floor was sanctioned, see what changes.

See when new values should be applied after approval of the Nursing Salary Floor

The Minimum Wage Law for Nursing, approved by the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate in May, is awaiting presidential approval to enter into force. Approval could come this week.

The text determines that professionals in the category hired in the public and private sectors under the CLT regime must receive at least R$ 4,750. Depending on the segment, technicians and assistants receive a lower floor. Check out the full table below.

Although the text was approved by Congress in May, it was not submitted to the president for approval until July 15. Bolsonaro has until August 4, next Thursday, to sign or veto the law.

One of the uncertainties in the approval is the impact of the floor on the Union budget. MEPs estimate that the proposal will cost R$ 16.3 billion if it includes the state and the private sector.

The government estimated spending at R$ 22 billion including the public sector and businesses. Potential funding sources for this resource are also analysed.

After approval of the salary floor, what can change?

If Bolsonaro decides to sanction the salary floor for nurses, the union, states and city halls have until the end of 2022 to readjust the salaries of professionals and, if necessary, career plans.

  • Nurse: R$ 4,750.00
  • Nursing Technician: R$ 3,325.00
  • Nursing Assistant: R$ 2,375.00
  • Midwife: R$ 2,375.00
